WHY HAST THOU DONE THIS?
Jonah 1:1-10

I - MOTIVES behind Jonah running from God

A - DISOBEDIENCE
Jonah did not want to do what God had told him to
He ran physically and spiritually

B - It was a DIFFICULT task
To preach judgment to a city of wicked people is not an easy assignment
We may run from God for fear of not being able to accomplish a task, but we are able {Phil 4:13}

C - It was a DISPLEASING task

II - The MANNER in which he did it

A - Jonah tried to DITCH God {vs 3}
He did all he could do to throw God off of his trail
There is no place to hide from God {Psa 139:7-8}

III - The MESS Jonah got into {vv 4-17}

A - The DAMAGE done
The boat was damaged and their goods were lost
Much was lost because of Jonah's disobedience
When you disobey God, you cause damage to your family, your testimony, your church, your life, and the cause of Christ

B - The DILEMMA
Jonah found himself in the belly of a whale
If you run from God, you may for yourself in serious trouble

IV - The MERCY he found
A - DRY land {2:10}
God will forgive you for your disobedience if you will only fall to your knees and pray

B - A DUPLICATE command {3:1}
God gave Jonah a second chance to do His command
God can be merciful and give us a second chance, but He is not obligated to do so
