LIARS, LIONS and LIBERALS
1 Kings 13


Divided kingdom = Israel / Judah
Jeroboam, king of Israel worried that by his people traveling into Judah to worship in Jerusalem that their hearts would turn to Rehoboam, king of Judah.
Jeroboam built 2 golden calves placed one in Bethel and one in Dan, built altars, ordained pagan priest, established feast, and ordered the people to worship in Israel.
God commissioned a prophet from Judah to cry out against and prophecy against the altar at Bethel.


I. THIS PROPHET WAS FEARLESS {vv. 1-6} 
-He was FEARLESS in the face of plain sin
-He was FEARLESS in the face of perilous sinners
-He was FEARLESS in the face of possible sacrifice


II. THIS PROPHET WAS FIRM {vv. 7-17} 
-He was FIRM in his heavenly instructions
-He was FIRM in spite of a handsome incentive


III. THIS PROPHET WAS FOOLISH {vv. 18-22} 
-He was FOOLISH to believe that all preachers are the same
-He was FOOLISH to backslide from the known truth
-He was FOOLISH to bend his steps after this lying prophet


IV. THIS PROPHET WAS FINISHED {vv. 23-32} 
-His was labor FINISHED
-His was light FINISHED
-His was life FINISHED
