Scripture Reading: Psalm 71:1-8
Text: (Mark 2:13) And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.
Introduction: Webster defines "resort" as:
-a place which people go often or generally, esp. one for rest or recreation, as on a vacation; - a frequent, customary, or general going, gathering together, or visiting; - a person or thing that one goes or turns to for help, support, etc.
We usually think of a resort as a place, but it can also be a person, as in the third definition above.
We sometimes use the expression, "our last resort."
I am afraid that often we use the Lord as our last resort. He does not have to be your LAST resort.
He can be your FIRST resort (He is the first and the last). He can be your DAILY resort. He can be your ONLY resort.
1 - A RESORT IS A PLACE OF REFUGE
(Psalms 71:3) Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
2 - A RESORT IS A PLACE OF REST
(Psalms 23:1-2) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 - A RESORT IS A PLACE OF REFLECTION
(Psalms 63:5-7) My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
