The Christian's Hate Life
Scripture Reading - Romans 7:14-25
Text - Romans 7:15

I. A CHRISTIAN OUGHT TO HATE QUITTING

Ps. 101:3
In this verse the hate is not directed at the person, but at what they have done – turn aside.
Obviously, the quitting we are talking about this morning is referring to SPIRITUAL matters!
There are a few reasons that people quit what is right:
i. Lies (Ps. 40:4) (Ps. 119:163)
ii. Love of the world (Ps. 78:40-41)
iii. Lost (1Jn. 2:19)
II. A CHRISTIAN OUGHT TO HATE EVERY FALSE WAY
Ps. 119:104
The context here is again spiritual. The writer is contrasting understanding through God’s word VS. a false way.
SEE – Ps. 119:125-128
III. A CHRISTIAN OUGHT TO HATE EMPTY RITUAL
Amos 5:21-24
Isa. 11:1-16
It is like food lost in the back of the fridge – at one point it was good, but now it is nasty and stinks!
IV. A CHRISTIAN OUGHT TO HATE IDOLATRY
Jer. 44:3-5
You may think that this type of passage is out-dated and inconsequential to the church in America today… SEE Col.3:5
Many people who consider themselves Christians LOVE, and even WORSHIP the ALMIGHTY dollar, and the THINGS that it can buy! And they place them as MORE important than God and the things of God.
Matt. 6:24 – Mammon = money, wealth, riches, substance, and worldly goods.
You would hate it if your children loved the THINGS you bought them more than they loved you!
V. A CHRISTIAN OUGHT TO HATE VAIN THOUGHTS
Ps. 119:113
Here the Psalmist defines vain thoughts as thoughts that are contrary to the law of God!
You DO KNOW that are thoughts, our wicked and naughty thoughts are WORDS to GOD!?
The Psalmist HATES it when his thoughts are contrary to the word of God!
SEE – Ps. 94:11, Ps. 139:2, Pr. 24:9
SEE – 2Cor. 10:5
