I - GREAT SORROWS (vs 37)
- The corruption of his own people (he came unto his own and his own received him not)
-The carnality of his disciples (Judas, Peter, asleep, forsook)
-The cup he is about to drink (the wrath of God against sin)
-The burden of sin (he was mad to be sin for us - who knew no sin)
-The pain he is about to go through

II - GREAT SUFFERING (Luke 22:44)

-He suffered from sin (when thou shalt make his soul an offering from sin)

-He suffered from the Sovereign God (it pleased the Lord to bruise him - he hath put him to grief)

-Here was a battle with the very powers of darkness - but the battle was won in Gethsemane, the Lord was retaking the ground that Adam lost

V - GREAT SURRENDER (vs 39)
-not thy will but mine - in Eden opened the floodgates of sin and death
-not my will but thine in Gethsemane opened the floodgates of salvation and life
VI - GREAT SUCCOR(Luke 22:43)
-Angels came down and ministered to him, temptations in the wilderness (Matt 4:11)
-12 legions of angels put sword away (Matt 26:52-53)
VII - GREAT SHAME (vs 46)
-All the disciples forsook him and fled (vs 56)
VIII - GREAT SUCCESS (vs 46)
