DON'T DESPAIR, GO TO PRAYER, THEN REPAIR
Nehemiah 1

I. THE RUIN {vv 1-3}
Jerusalem was in ruins and her walls were torn down
Many lives have walls that have been torn down
Walls left down leave you vulnerable to more despair

II. THE REQUEST {vv 4-11}
Nehemiah pleads with the Lord
    1. He RECOGNIZED the character of God {vv 5-6}
    We pray to the God of heaven who is ALMIGHTY
    He is a GREAT and TERRIBLE God who can deliver on His promises
    He has new mercies every day {lam 3:22-23}

    2. He REPENTED of all sins {vv 6-7}
    He realized that he and his nation had sins that needed to be confessed

    3. He REMINDED God of His gracious promises {vv 8-10}
    Sometimes God wants us to remind Him of His great promises and that He is responsible for us

    4. He REQUESTED specific help {vv 10-11}
    Tell God exactly what you need
    Broad prayers bring broad answers

III - THE REPAIR {Nehemiah 2:1-5}
Nehemiah wanted to get busy fixing it
Don't just pray and do nothing, get to work!
