I - ALL MEN SHOULD SEEK THE LORD
A - Early-(Proverbs 8:17) “…those that seek me early shall find me.” -(Ecclesiastes 12:1) “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth…” -(Hebrews 3:7-19)B - While He May be found-(Isaiah 55:6) “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near”C - With the whole heart
-(Genesis 6:3) “And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man…”-(Jeremiah 29:13) “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
-(Jeremiah 3:10) “And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.”
-[fey-nid-lee = pretend, sham, counterfeit]
II. THE LORD DOES NOT SEEK ALL MEN
A - Under no obligation to seek all men- Romans 9:9-26B - In our text he does not seek those who seek him-He actually goes away from these seekers! WHY?
-All they are seeking him for is for that which is physical, material, and tangible. (32-34)
-(John 6:26) “Ye seek me… because ye did eat of the loaves and were filled.”
-(John 6:15) “When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.”
-(Phil. 2:21) “For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.”
III. THE MEN THAT THE LORD DOES SEEK
A - Those who are willing to hear and obey the Scriptures (38)
B - This, after all was the calling of Jesus – to preach!-Isaiah 61:1-2, Luke 4:16-21C - While Jesus DID minister to the physical… his objective was to minister to the spiritual.
D - He was always seeking those who would listen, hear and accept the Scriptures.
E - The Lord had no patience towards those who had no genuine interest in his Word.
F - See – Mark 6:7-12, Acts 13:46-52
What are you seeking? Who are you seeking? Why are you seeking?
(Mat 6:33) “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
