THE AFFLICTIONS OF CALVARY
Isaiah 53:1-12

I - THE AFFLICTION OF THE APPREHENSION {Luke 22:39-46}
Jesus Christ knew everything that was about to happen to him
He was grieved, pained, and stressed over what was to come
We see his affliction based on his plea {vs 42}
We see a physical phenomenon {hematidrosis} {vs 44}
Under very rare occurrences the human body sweats drops of blood because it is under severe stress

II - THE AFFLICTION OF THE ABUSE {Isa 52:13}
Christ was so abused that his face and form was unrecognizable
{Psa 129:3; Isa 50:6}

III - THE AFFLICTION OF THE ATTRIBUTION {Isa 53:6}
Our iniquity, which was not his, was attributed to the Lord Jesus Christ

IV - THE AFFLICTION OF THE ABANDONMENT {Matt 26:55-56, 27:46; John 6:66}
Jesus was not only abandoned by his closest friends and allies, but he was abandoned by God his Father

V - THE AFFLICTION OF THE ANGER {Isa 53:10-11}
Not only was he hated by the Jewish leaders, but he bore the brunt of God's wrath against sin
